To date most MRRM users create their switchlists in a batch mode prior to an Operations Session although you could run the program during operations to make adjustments for mishaps in the middle of a session. For example, a train is delayed and certain cars are not in the right yard at the right time for the Yardmaster to release the next train. MRRM does allow you to quickly modify the manifest to reflect this reality and then redo the Switchlist per the Yardmaster directions.

If you run in real time (though not wired into your layout in the Standard Edition of MRRM), you can perform the following functions: track the manifest status, track waybill status, track shipment forwarding status, preview car lists and weight per stop prior to embarkation, and issue train orders.
