Tuning Peco Turnouts

Turnout History Lessons

Juicing the Frogs

Locomtives are prone to stopping over turnouts due to a loss of power. Power is routed via point-rail contact. These contact areas sometime get dirty or slightly misaligned. Power is lost or intermittent. Cleaninng and tuning point-rail contacts is an ongoing maintenance issue.

We are gradually supplementing the point-rail power routing with polarity correct power introduced on the normal and diverging rails leaving the frog. This juicing improves short and long locomotive running over the turnout.

Reducing likelihood of Derailments on or near turnouts

Most trackwork caused derailments occur at turnouts or at turnout egress.
