SE8c Tortoise Control
We have installed 4 SE8c circuit boards on Tom's layout at this time. These boards are located under Port Marysland, Louis Anthony Yard, Soozee Junction, and adjacent to Stack Mountain. In addition to the 120 signal heads that we are driving, we are also driving 32 Tortoise motors (8 per SE8c board). We have begun to use the block occupancy reporting capability of these boards using RR CirKit BODs and the new Digitrax BD4 when more that a single BDL168 would be required per power district.
An example of the SE8c installation supporting Amyville and the Port is shown in the picture below. The SE8c is the large circuit board with the 44 pin connector. Each of the 8 multi-color flat cables connect to 4 signal heads on the layout. The 44 pin connector is currently used to drive 8 Tortoise motors powering Peco turnouts which are connected via the punch down block.
The smaller circuit board to the left of the Digitrax SE8c is a Team Digital SRC8. It currently drives eight Tortoise motors.
