Model RailRoad Manager (tm), MRRM (tm), software provides model railroad Inventory, Maintenance and Waybill-based Traffic Generation. Advanced version includes Dispatcher, Fascia, Cab Panels Editor and Operations, Layout Locomotive, Turnout, Signal, Block Occupancy, and other sensor Control. Advanced edition also provides HyperThrottle Cabs that integrate rail traffic workload and layout control, Multi-layout Operations for virtual car forwarding between layouts, Remote Operations to drive trains from a distance, Web Cams, Internet features, and extended DCC support.

Buyer Order Generation

Purpose:

MRRM operates on Greenwich Mean Time. For each Industry activity, MRRM maintains the time when a re-order event must occur for each commodity bought. The time between re-orders can be constant or a random variable within a specified range. When the time to re-order occurs, the number of carloads to be ordered may be a constant or a random variable within a specified range. The weight of the carloads is also computed.

Data Description:

Function Descriptions:

MRRM runs a simulation of the activity of all your industries. The figure shows the controls used to run this simulation.

'Current Car location Report' tells you where the cars should be when the simulation begins.

'Scatter Car Report' if you request that cars be pre set out at shipper activity stops at the beginning of a simulation, this report tells you which cars should be placed at which stops.

'Preserve Locked' checkbox tells MRRM to not disassemble rolling stock assigned to a train manifest if the train is 'Locked'. This is useful for maintaining operations with custom built consists such as passenger or unit trains.

'Start Over' tells the simulator to erase the old manifests, waybills, schedules, switchlists, and other traffic documents and reset time to the day and time indicated.

The Change Day+Hour button allows you to set the day, month, year, hour and minute when the simulation begins. Time is in Greenwich Mean Time.

'Scatter Car to Sidings' button tells MRRM to scatter cars when the 'Start Over' button is clicked.

The GMT in the yellow box is read only and is maintained by MRRM as the simulation proceeds.

The 'One Step Work|Order|Route' button advances the simulation clock by one hour. Any Consignee/Buyer Orders that are triggered in this hour are created and queued as Shipments to the statistically selected Shipper/Seller.

'# of Steps' is the number of simulated hours to perform when you click the 'Multi-Step Industry Work' button

'Auto-Ship' checkbox is checked when you want the MRRM Back Office to automatically process Shipment contracts with Sellers. This is the default setting. To manually control the shipment fulfillment process, uncheck this checkbox.

'Auto-Order Car' checkbox is checked when you want the MRRM Back Office to automatically process requests for cars from foreign yards needed by Shippers.

'Est's Car Moves/Day' is calculated by MRRM using all working shippers and their Consignee prospects. It is a range since the number of moves depends upon the location of the Buyer and Seller and how many train moves are likely needed to complete the shipments produced per day.

How to Use:

Step the clock as often as needed to create the shipments and associated waybills which define the traffic that your railroad needs to carry.
