Tracks are inventoried to allow capturing the topology of your layout for automation. Industrial tracks, or sidings allow industries to specify where goods are shipped from or received.
The following figure shows some of the tracks in my layout inventory.
This figure shows the specification of a track.
Track/Siding ID - unique name for this track segment; up to 20 characters
Track Name - long name to more easily recognize when making choices of tracks; up to characters
Purpose - up to characters
Actual Model Length - length of this track segment in inches
Prototype Length - computed from Actual Model Length and Scale of your railroad.
Operational Status - set to out of service to disallow use in operations
Maximum Grade - zero to 5.9%; reserved for future usage.
Maximum Speed - reserved for future usage.
Restricted Speed - reserved for future usage.
Track # - unique number; only required for layout automation features
Single Siding Report - Print a track data report
Summary Sidings Report - Print a report summarizing all tracks
View Siding Pix - if you have a picture, show it in your preferred viewer
Copy a Rail Siding Record - if some information is in common between two tracks
Create Default Siding Stop Point - if a station stop or industry stop is on this track, this is a short cut that defiens the stop record
Create Web Page - if you are supporting a web site of your track information
Use for all industrial sidings that can ship or receive commodities. Use for block, signal, transponder location data. Use for layout automation.
